Husband Socks
Believe it or not, this is the first pair of socks I've ever made for my husband (as well as being the first finished object of 2008):
I finished them last night. The specs:
Pattern: My own basic pattern
Yarn: Trekking 62
Needles: My usual size 0s
So, I've been working a bit on Frost Flowers and Leaves and I've been working a little on the Hex Coat, which shall henceforth be referred to as the Albatross. I love the coat's picture in Knitting Nature and I have no doubts that I will love mine once finished, but let me tell you what a giant, hairy pain in the bum that miles and miles of moss stitch are. Knit one, purl one, knit one purl one. I'd much rather have plain old stockinette or even garter. Next time I choose a project this big, it will not have miles and miles of moss or rib. I am nearly to the armholes of the back now and then I STILL have the sleeves. Ugh. Not to mention all those hexagons. *Sigh*

Congrats on the first FO of the year!
I like seed stitch in the round or back and forth ribbing, because then I can "lazy purl" and untwist it on the next row/round - makes it a lot harder to misknit.
I love the socks.
I agree with you about the moss stitch. I seriously think it is the brainchild of the devil!
You knit your husband socks on 0's? That right there is the ultimate in love and patience. ;o)
Lovely socks! I cant believe they're on 0's!
That moss stitch sounds like a special hell. *shudder*
Oh I agree- I hate moss stitch- it always drives me mad! But the socks look beautiful- i am sure your husband will love them.
Man socks on size #0's and neverending moss stitch - I nominate you for knitting sainthood Alison! :)
Nice socks - I have actually never knitted my husband socks . . yet. I know that moss stitch is aggravating, but it sure looks nice when it's done. Hang in there!
What a great FO for the first one of 2008. His first pair of socks. Yay!
Right there with me, I can do stockinette all day, but I hate ribbing, moss stitch, seed stitch etc.
Classic man-socks! Grey with subtle stripes, you can't go wrong. :-)
I'd much rather do seed stitch than ribbing. I don't know why, as it's exactly the same thing, just offset by one stitch... but it's the 1x1 rib that really makes me feel homicidal. ;-)
Brave soul. The last pair of socks I ever knit was a pair of men's very plain size 13 shoe size dark charcoal on size 0's. Took for-freaking-ever. And it was for a friend, my husband still doesn't have a pair. You're way ahead of me.
The socks are great! I'm sure he will love them : ) Yeah, moss stitch feels a lot slower, but it's such a lovely texture.
I've never made socks before - the ones you made look lovely!
